The Ocean County Library has spaces in most of our branches available for use by the public and can be requested on this page. Below are links to the Library’s policy concerning use of our spaces and the request application.
Spaces include meeting rooms and study rooms. All requests are reviewed and approved by staff. You will receive a confirmation e-mail when the request is approved.
Please note that your organization is responsible for set-up and breakdown of the space, including setting up tables and chairs. Ocean County Library does not provide refreshments.
Organizations are limited in the number of uses per year, detailed in our meeting room policy linked below. Organizations located outside of Ocean County will need to pay a $50.00 fee (per use) payable to Ocean County Library.
Bookings will be forfeited if you do not arrive within 15 minutes of the start of your reservation time.
Our branches have a variety of spaces available, including study rooms and meeting rooms of various sizes and capacities, with the exception of our Island Heights and Beachwood Branches that do not have space available. For larger events, our Toms River Branch also has several options that must be booked directly with staff. Call (732) 349-6200 x5517 for more information about Toms River Branch meeting spaces.
Ocean County clubs and organizations holding programs independently of the Library may use one of the library system’s meeting rooms up to 6 times in a calendar year.
Businesses located in Ocean County may use one of the library system’s meeting rooms up to 2 times in a calendar year.
Out-of-County groups may use one of the library system’s meeting rooms up to 2 times a calendar year. A $50.00 fee will be charged for out-of-county groups.
A confirmation will be sent between 2-3 business days after the request is submitted. If you do not receive a confirmation after this time, please call the branch to make sure the request was received.
Online bookings must be done in advance of the event start time. Study rooms must be booked at least 24 hours in advance and meeting rooms at least 72 hours in advance.
If you would like to book a space less than 24 or 72 hours in advance, you can call the branch directly and ask about availability.
Study rooms are smaller and generally accommodate small groups of 1-4. These rooms do not have booking limits, are available on a first come, first served basis, and can accommodate walk-ins. Study rooms can be booked for 2 hours at a time.
Meeting room spaces are larger and require advance approval. Individuals and organizations are limited in the amount of times they can book a meeting room at the library, explained in detail in the meeting room policy. Meeting rooms also have equipment available to use, depending on the branch and availability. Any equipment requests must be made in advance along with the room request.
Specific availability of each room, sizes of spaces, and equipment availability are explained for each space when you make a reservation.
Study rooms can be booked for two hour blocks. Please note that study room reservations must be approved by staff and a confirmation e-mail will be sent once the room use is approved.
Both meeting rooms and study rooms cannot be booked more than 90 days in advance.
There is no limit to the number of reservations you can make for a study room. Meeting room bookings are limited based on organization type.
